Let's Get Physics, Y'all!
Megan Amram has written a new book, Science... For Her! which comes out November 4th. To promote it, she's released this music video even our tiny, ladylike brains can understand!
I know what I'll be reading on the 4th and what I'll be trying to get out of my head forever!
Let's Get Physics Y'all with Megan Amram, Nick Offerman, Rich Fulcher, and Steve Agee from Nick Offerman

Sesame Street and Aziz Ansari? Ridiculous!
Grover and Aziz Ansari have a totally normal conversation on a pretty ridiculous subject:

Parks and Rec Season 6 Gag Reel!
Speaking of Andy Dwyer, here's Parks and Rec's season six gag reel!! It's not nearly enough to tide us over before the FINAL SEVENTH SEASON this spring, but I'll take it!

"Yes Please" Let Us Read Amy Poehler's New Book!
I can't wait for Amy Poehler's book, "Yes Please" to come out in October (which I think is prime book-releasing season since it creates a buzz before Christmas and weirdos - i.e. me - only give the gift of books because they think it's more personal *and* more cheap than whatever fancy thing the recipient actually wants), but that means they forgo the wonderful summer reading season! I can totally picture myself on the beach, huddled under an umbrella saying, "Why is it so sunny and nice!? I can't read in this weather!"
Anywho - in the meantime, you can enjoy the cover art. I know I do:
It's reminiscent of her theater days, and makes me think of "yes, and" but in a more fun, "give me more" way. To that end, I wonder how much of her life and which aspects it will focus on. She's such an interesting lady. I can't wait to *Amy Poehler-style newsie boy* "Read all about it!"

Next Season on "Parks and Rec"...
Michael Schur did a great interview with EW on why they decided to do the three-year leap and how they're going to handle the final thirteen episodes. I'm sad to see Parks and Rec go, but I'm happy to know they've been given time to really go out with a bang!

OMG, Parks and Rec! The Best!
Have you all seen the Parks and Recreation season finale? If not, go watch it and then come back and read this!
If so, wasn't it a delight? All the cool kids are talking about how great it was - at Vulture, WaPo, IGN, TIME, probably more! I've never really cared about cameos, but the million and twelve in this episode were all handled with as many jokes as possible, therefore making them all worthwhile. Obviously, Michelle Obama's was stellar - mostly in Leslie's amazing reaction to meeting one of her idols - and how similar it was to meeting her other idols at her national parks department lunch.
The last three minutes were insane. I literally had no idea what was going on, and I definitely need to watch it a few more to make sure I get all the jokes - I was blindsided by the bangs! - but what a great move! We get to see Leslie on top of her game, being amazing, with her adorable triplets, without having to waste time with a whole pregnancy/babies plotline. How great is that? Of course, one day she will have to move out of Pawnee, but, similar to her Councilwoman story, the move to the third floor allows her to stay in Pawnee for now while making a major advancement in her career and establishing her family. Who knows what Ben is doing ("Cones of Dunshire" movie adaptation premiere?!), but I'm totally onboard.
We all want the best for Leslie and the Parks and Rec crew, and I feel like they've done a great job recognizing that they needed to start showing us what that future would look like before we have to say goodbye to Pawnee for good.

Adam Scott as Derek Huff Doesn't Want You to Sign up for Obamacare
I haven't seen Step Brothers all the way through - and by all the way through I mean the only part I've seen is where the bunk bed collapses, and that was two weeks ago when I was flipping through channels. But it seems like Adam Scott's character in it, Derek Huff, is a real gem. Watch below as he hates on health insurance, really pushing you to not sign up via healthcare.gov by March 31st!

Amy Poehler: Feminist and All Around Awesome Lady
Elle's got a great, brief interview with Amy Poehler on feminism, female friendships, Parks and Rec, improv and all kinds of goodness. I want her to produce MY super funny Comedy Central show!! We could talk about feminism and comedy and waffles all day long.
My favorite quote (and a strong message to all those women aspiring to have power, especially creative power and especially in entertainment) is, "You need to believe that you deserve to be in the room once you get there." Also good to know this is true, "I don’t think creativity has to come from a place of dysfunction. It can come from nice people with good parents."
Plus, she's writing a book! Can't wait to read it!
Go, Amy!

'Parks and Rec' Gets a Seventh Season!
Lucky number 7!!! I honestly believed (and had come to terms) with the fact that this would be the last season of Parks and Recreation, but I was wrong! Blessedly wrong! You can read more here.

ThinkProgress' Year in Culture: TV
Alyssa Rosenberg has been doing a year-end wrap up of all things pop culture, but I especially enjoyed her year in TV wrap-up, which is more a revisiting of her most significant posts from throughout the year. It reminded me what a great year for TV, and especially for women and women of color in TV, it has been, even when at times it still seems like white men are getting all the attention (coughBreakingBadcough). Also, I almost forgot that Ben and Leslie's wedding happened this year on Parks and Rec and it was the absolute best! The only thing she forgot to mention (and she forgot about it at the time, as well), is how great of a show Go On was, and how it definitely deserved at least one more season. It was, indeed, Goon too soon.

Lovely Interview with Michael Schur on World-Building in 'Parks an Rec' and 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'
As you know, I LOVE ME some Parks and I am super getting into Brooklyn Nine-Nine, as well. Much of that is due to the diverse, unique characters on both shows, and the elaborate world-building that goes into them. For a deeper look into that process, check out Alyssa Rosenberg's interview with creator/showrunner Michael Schur over at ThinkProgress.

Literally Every one of Chris Traeger's Literally Moments!
I literally love Rob Lowes's character, Chris Traeger, on Parks and Rec. He is so refreshingly different and unique (which is pretty hard to do for a white guy character). I love his upbeat attitude and uber-healthy lifestyle. Sometimes I feel like the Chris Traeger of my office, and that makes me smile. I'm really sad to see Chris go (even if it won't be until mid-season), so I'm happy that Vulture put together a list of all of Chris' 'literally' moments. For some reason, twenty-six seems remarkably low, but I guess Parks has dispersed the literallys more sparingly than it felt like. Good for them! They are literally the best writers in TV right now!

Henry Winkler to Play Jean-Ralphio's Dad on 'Parks and Rec'
Of course the faux-'50s jerky-cool dude is going to play the father of the modern faux jerky-cool dude. This is just another example of why Parks and Rec is the greatest show on TV.

Parks and Rec: Horror Style
I know one thing, if Leslie WAS an evil monster serial killer, she'd be the BEST evil monster serial killer!
I'd say I can't wait for Parks and Rec this fall, but I love me some summer! That being said, when Fall does roll around, I will be very excited to see Parks and Rec!

Wrong Directors: Game of Thrones
Jesse Benjamin's "Wrong [Casting] Directors" takes on Game of Thrones, with Zooey Deschanel, Aubrey Plaza, and Michael Cera.
Would you watch this "Game of Quirks"? I totally would. At least to see Jess and April play off of each other. That would be a blast.
When trying to come up with a cleverer title for the millennial edition of Game of Thrones, all I could come up with was "Game of Moans" which presumably already exists in porn form. Unless you think there is no porn parody of "Game of Thrones" because there's already so much sex in the actual show... Could go either way!

Lego: The Movie is actually a movie
It's official - there's a teaser trailer starring Andy from Parks and Rec and everything.
Here's the thing, though. I thought Cloudy and 21 Jump Street were pretty darn funny, and I really love stop-motion animation. I super hate product placement and the idea that an entire movie is product placement, but of all the things to place productively, are LEGO's so bad? Am I becoming the enemy?

Amy Poehler is the "Comedy Person of the Year"
To me, she's the Comedy Person of My Lifetime (I should note there are multiple winners of this award), but technically getting named "Comedy Person of [just this] Year" by Montreal's Just for Laughs is a more prestigious award. For now. Either way, good for Amy Poehler!!
