Lena Dunham's book tour t-shirt says, "Lena [Heart] Planned Parenthood." And now tons of celebs are wearing them! It's a great way to raise awareness for Planned Parenthood (and Lena's book). Planned Parenthood is also going to be doing nine events in coordination with the book tour throughout October. You can check out them all the celeb photos at HuffPo.
*Yes that was a Billy Madison reference for some terrible reason.

OMG, Parks and Rec! The Best!
Have you all seen the Parks and Recreation season finale? If not, go watch it and then come back and read this!
If so, wasn't it a delight? All the cool kids are talking about how great it was - at Vulture, WaPo, IGN, TIME, probably more! I've never really cared about cameos, but the million and twelve in this episode were all handled with as many jokes as possible, therefore making them all worthwhile. Obviously, Michelle Obama's was stellar - mostly in Leslie's amazing reaction to meeting one of her idols - and how similar it was to meeting her other idols at her national parks department lunch.
The last three minutes were insane. I literally had no idea what was going on, and I definitely need to watch it a few more to make sure I get all the jokes - I was blindsided by the bangs! - but what a great move! We get to see Leslie on top of her game, being amazing, with her adorable triplets, without having to waste time with a whole pregnancy/babies plotline. How great is that? Of course, one day she will have to move out of Pawnee, but, similar to her Councilwoman story, the move to the third floor allows her to stay in Pawnee for now while making a major advancement in her career and establishing her family. Who knows what Ben is doing ("Cones of Dunshire" movie adaptation premiere?!), but I'm totally onboard.
We all want the best for Leslie and the Parks and Rec crew, and I feel like they've done a great job recognizing that they needed to start showing us what that future would look like before we have to say goodbye to Pawnee for good.

Hated the HIMYM Ending? YouTube's Fixed It
I almost forgot that in the middle of the awful series finale, there was a beautiful finale just waiting to break free. Thankfully, one brave (or at least handy with iMovie) YouTuber did the work for us:
Now this I like.

Goodbye to an Artful 2013, Hello to an Artfuller 2014!
I feel like a lot of year in reviews are pretty much either brag-fests or suck-fests - what did we accomplish, what went wrong, why this was the greatest year EVER OF ALL TIME, why this year BLEW DONKEY CHUNKS, etc. I was thinking about writing what I did and did not accomplish this year. I think it's a good idea to really sit and think and analyze, "How did I move forward and how can I learn from the ways I didn't move forward," but they may be better suited for personal introspection than a blog post read by a whopping seven people. Frankly, that's five and a half people too many. I will say this was a really big, super-stellar year for me, life-wise, and I'm very grateful for that. I hope 2014 brings a lot of amazing things, too, and not a lot of sad, bad, unhappy things. I hope I grow as a writer and finally start to live up to the opportunities I'm given and seizing. I hope I become a better friend, daughter, sister, wife, co-worker, citizen of my community and the world. And for you, my dearest seven readers, I hope you all had a fantastic 2013 and an even more amazing 2014. If nothing else, your loyalty to my ramblings certainly have earned you that much.
Not solid on what my resolution will be next year - last year was more photos, this year was more music... I'll keep you updated.
In the meantime, these two posts on the NKF blog are pretty solid reads.

Happy Endings' Eliza Coupe Gets a New Show!
She'll be starring in a new USA legal comedy called Benched to air hopefully at some point? As I said before, I love me some procedurals, and if this one follows the comedic lead of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, it'll be totally awesome. If it's more Franklin and Bash then we'll see... But yay, Eliza! From that last weird season of Scrubs to greatness on Happy Endings and beyond!

Happy Ending for another "Happy Endings" Star!
Eliza Coupe snapped up the recurring role of Will Arnet's ex-wife in his new sitcom, The Millers. We should approach this news with caution, since unfortunately Will Arnet has not had the best of luck with his last couple of sitcoms (Running Wilde and Up All Night were both fairly well-reviewed but never really caught on), but maybe third time's a charm? Either way, I'm happy that I'll get to see Eliza on TV again this fall, along with other awesome Happy Endings like Damon Wayans, Jr. and Adam Pally! It's almost (... actually not at all) as good as having Happy Endings on the air...

Try to Be Kinder
George Saunders, of incredible short story fame, wrote an incredible short graduation speech. It makes me want to be a better person in an entirely achievable way (which makes me think I can really do it), and I think it will make you feel that way (and really do it), too.

'Happy Endings' Stars Move to 'New Girl' 'The Mindy Project'
If I can't see them as Brad and Max, at least I can see them as Coach and Some-Doctor-Guy! Damon Wayans, Jr. is reprising his role (I hope permanently!) as Coach on New Girl next season, and Adam Pally is joining The Mindy Project as a new doctor in Mindy's clinic. It's not Happy Endings... sigh... but at least we'll get to watch them on two other fun shows!
Plus, wouldn't it be great to have a broadcast sitcom starring two Black actors? Sometimes I get the feeling that there's a "no two Black actors in the same room" clause on broadcast sitcoms, like they're all Superman or something. Maybe this will change that!

Happy Endings is back, so watch it, please!!
Happy Endings came back this week, and it was super funny (esp. the second episode), so everyone, just cancel all your super cool totes cray Friday plans and start watching Happy Endings! Honestly, whatever they're doing in sitcom land is probably more fun than whatever boring ideas you had anyway (unless it's The Artful Bachelorette!). For serious, you guys, it is the best!
Also, ABC, get YOUR act together and put the show back on a good night! Do you really think it's not as funny as that epically long-titled How To Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life) (seriously, that is how long its name is!)? Come on! At least pull an NBC and give it six seasons!
