Gold Dinosaurs at Wedding: Best DIY Ever!

Also, I'd be reminsce not to post these amazing, hand-gold-spray-painted dinosaurs that decorated our friends' wedding. What a unique, classy, silly, ridiculously fun DIY thing to do! Clearly, this is why we hang out with them.

Beach Ball Nails!

Here are my awesome beach ball-slash-abstract-because-they-don't-super-look-like-beach ball nails! I did these to celebrate our good friends Max & Jess' wedding! The first photo is in front of my shower curtain because it's fanciful. The second photo is where they were married - overlooking the mighty Pacific Ocean! Beautiful! Like out of a flippin' magazine!

Nail Art: Anniversary Nails!

I had a million ideas for this: dancing poodles, elaborate cake, other wedding'y things, but in the end I decided on simplicity.

Our wedding colors were green and pink

The other hand read, "6 years" since we got married on our 5th dating anniversary!

April: "Something Blue" Toenails!

For my "Something Blue" I thought it'd be fun to through in a blue accent nail on my big toes. I'd say it was a success, don't you think? At least in the sense that I still got married, regardless of my toenail color. Admittedly, it'd be pretty weird in the fiance broke up with me on our wedding day because my nail choice was sloppy and absurd.

April: Wedding Nails!

The first nails of the year came in April for my wedding. As you can see, my photo framing and finger display are a mess, but I think I picked an excellent color for my spring nuptials (our scheme was green, coral, and blush... which basically means green and pink and red). Not bad for a first go 'round, especially considering I did them the night before my wedding at around midnight while watching Moonstruck.

Engagement Posters

These guys went all out with their engagement photos, and they're really good! The An Education knock-off is creepy-good. I bet they're going to have a really fun party, but I also have no idea how they're going to sustain that level of cleverness throughout the wedding planning - best of luck!

I think Expecto Patronum would have been more fun...

But I still have to admit that an Expelliarmus wedding photo is pretty badass.

Levicorpus would have been quite amusing, as well.

Happy Earth Day!!

To celebrate, I continue to live in New York City (where my carbon footprint is significantly smaller than if I lived in a suburban area)! Beyond that, I haven't really done anything, but who can blame me as I'm on my mini-moon!!!

Yep! I'm hitched! Photos and wedding-related posts to come!! Get pumped!

If Only Olivia Pope Planned My Wedding...

It would be much more scandalous, which would be a negative, but on the plus-side, she could probably throw it together in three days and make everything look absolutely perfect (at least on the outside - on the inside a governor will probably need a sex thing covered up and Olivia will be busy getting some Fitz on the sly).

Seriously, though, I think one of the things people (including me!) love so much about Scandal is the idea that there's someone out there who just knows what to do and does it - even if what she does ultimately is totally wrong - which it sometimes is! Olivia, tell us what to do!

The Artful Bachelorette!

Want the classiest, most fun, and - dare I say - educational Bachelorette Party ever? Throw an The Artful Bachelorette! I had mine yesterday evening and had an absolute BLAST!

I love drawing and so rarely get an opportunity to do it, especially in a fun, relaxed, friend-filled environment! The addition of a super sexy male model (when in a normal figure drawing class it's usually a gross fit-flabby dude in his 60s) and the topless uber-sexy waiter who refilled our drinks (and our charcoal pencils) sent the night right over the edge of casual fun into (classy) raucousness!

The whole team was so great at making everyone feel comfortable (one of the main reasons was they seemed super comfortable with each other and the situation altogether, which really helps) and running a smooth class. I feel like my friends and I bonded in a whole new way, and really made memories that will last a lifetime!

I (like the NY Times, New York Weddings, and Time Out New York) LOVE it. Highly recommend The Artful Bachelorette for anyone's bachelorette (or fun, crazy birthday!) party!

PS. The funniest part? My fiance is the one who discovered it! Best FH ever? Yes, definitely!
PPS. The "what a weird coincidence this must be fate" moment? The fact that it's called the Artful Bachelorette and I'm Artful Stew! What a weird coincidence, it MUST BE FATE!

Vacation + Wedding Planning Photos

Hello!

I was on vacation all last week, which is a term I use loosely to really mean "wedding planning 24/7" instead of the usual "wedding planning 4-5/7"

It was hectic. It was crazy. It was super fun.

Also, I took a ton of photos of flowers and stuff. Here is a preview:

Scabiosa Pods
Scabiosa pods. They're weird, fun, and nature-y, just like me!

I will post more from my trip as the week continues!

The DIY Bride

Oh man, this is totally how I feel after looking at too many wedding mags, blogs, etc...

Excellent work, Mikala Bierma, excellent work.

Also, I didn't realize that florists keep their flowers up with that weird green mushy-mesh stuff - mystery revealed!

I love love! Also, "Our Wedding Song"

And what better way to capture love than with four love stories from NYC's Brookdale Senior Living Center told as each couple dances to their wedding song?

Yes, yes, I think we all got a little dust in our eyes just then. Too sweet.

Shrek Wedding

Ok, this is not my wedding, but I do think it's sweet that they thought up the whole theme based on their son's love for the film. Also, pretty cool to come out for your reception transformed into an ogre! I think my favorite is the guy who dressed as Puss in Boots because clearly he REALLY got into it, and I think it'd be funny if he was just some random third cousin twice removed who'd just been waiting for this day when FINALLY he could put those serious face-painting skills to work!

Wedding Flowers

There are so many, and they are all so pretty, how do you choose?

Here are some we're thinking about. What do you think? Did we do good?

Wedding colors are coral, green, and blush. Think we got them?

I do not know the name of many of these things, but I'm very excited for the daisies, as they are my favorite flower!

Monkey tails and Succulents and Poppies, oh my!

Um, Dream Dessert Table?

If only I could have a dessert table this epic at my wedding...

Photo: Marcus Nilsson

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' wedding is the star of this month's Martha Stewart Weddings, and it's no surprise - look at that dessert table!! They even had fancy s'mores bars like at Park Avenue Autumn! Come on!

No worries, though... Our dessert table may not be as elegant, but it will be just as epic, that's for sure!

Mmmm... Dragon Cake...

I want the dragon on this cake to be my pet/best friend. We'd do everything together, and it would scare off all the people are mean to me, and let my friends and fiance nibble on its tail scales (also, it would regenerate new tail scales, possibly by me making them out of sugar and flour).

Also, in general, the intricacy of the wings and the realism of the dragon as a whole are inspiring. No one should eat this cake! Well, not the dragon part. They can have the rest of the cake with the blue smoke rings.

Seriously, how classy are those blue smoke rings and that clean, modern white icing covering the rest of it? If I was going to have a super weird theme-y cake, this would definitely be it (or that really classy snitch wedding cake I saw a few weeks ago. That was lovely, too).
