Appropriate for this to come out just days before I dress as Katniss for Halloween!
Ok, I admit, J-Law rocks the look better than I do, but my bow was a broken hanger with a rubber band for the string, so, you know, work with what you've got!

Comic Con: Hunger Games Mockingjay Trailer Released!
My favorite part of Comic Con? The trailers! In addition to the new Hobbit trailer, we also got a proper trailer for the new Hunger Games Mockingjay, Part 1 (that's a mouthful of a title) movie, coming out later this year:
That's a smaller, more ragged District 13 than I imagined, but maybe they're saving their money for crazier things down the line? I know I'll be watching.

'Fed Up' Trailer
Someone doesn't want a cupcake on their birthday...
Seriously, this could be a great, mind-blowing documentary, or just a re-hash of old, if still absurd, information. Either way, looks interesting!

Game of Thrones Season 4 Trailer is Here!!
Hooray!! It's weird watching this trailer, since now that I've read the books, I know exactly what's happening. I both like/don't like it (the fact that I know, not the trailer, which looks great!), but I also am excited to see all the things the showrunners and writers change. So far, the show has done a fantastic job, and this trailer seems like we're going to see more incredible moments ahead!
Can't wait until April! Partially for this and partially because then it might be warm again...

Veronica Mars Movie Trailer is Officially Here!!!
The trailer for the Veronica Mars movie is HERE!! SUPER BADASS SQUEAL OF DELIGHT! Sorry I can't embed it, but you can see it at E!
Oh man. It looks so good. Did you see how much Max Greenfield they put in there? Delightful. Did you catch a cameo by Kristen Bell's hubby Dax Shepherd (I thought I did but I've only watched it once so I could be wrong)? Did you see all the LoVe they put in? I definitely did.
Obviously, I do hope that Veronica's character has grown and matured and doesn't devolve or regress emotionally by the end of the film (she really starts off in a high place, so there may be some of that, but maybe it will lead to higher and better emotional growth by the end?), but it also looks like there's going to be some awesome detectivery going on. I hope we see more of Wallace and Mac. What have they been up to?
So many questions. And, come March, so many answers!

Year-End Movie Mash-Ups!
Below are mash-ups of movies from this year all edited together real pretty-like.
From Sleepy Skunk below. Movies listed here.
David Ehflich's Top 25 Movies of the Year (Definitely disagree with this, but fun to see all the clips, and the intro sequence is really well-edited)
Another year in cinema!

New Trailer for Laika's 'The Boxtrolls'
I can't figure out how to embed Apple Trailer videos, but here's a link to the latest trailer for Laika's (the stop-motion company) new feature, The Boxtrolls, out next September. While I have no idea or clue if this movie is going to be any good, I love the trailer. It's basically just stop-motion porn: gorgeous shots of stop-motion animation in progress. I could watch that all day! You can read a little more about it at /Film.
'Muppets Most Wanted' Trailer
The new Muppets movie's first trailer was released. Check it out!
I like the badge joke, Tina Fey's character, and evil Kermit's weird voice. Plus, it looks like there will be at least one musical number! What do you think?

New 'Sherlock' Trailer!!
New trailer for season three of Sherlock on the BBC!
Is it ok that I am way more impressed by the size and fluffitude of Martin Freeman's 'stache than the meta "Sherlock lives" social media aspect of the trailer?
Is he going to shave it!? Will it be there all season!? I MUST KNOW!

First Trailer for Disney's 'Malificent'
Disney released the first trailer for its darker, Snow White and the Huntsman-esque take on Sleeping Beauty, Malificent.
The film's supposed to be from the (apparently) used-to-be-good-turned-evil fairy Malificent's point of view. The trailer doesn't give us any of that, instead showing us the live-action version of the original Disney animated movie. I hope that's just to keep all the fun parts of the movie from being spoiled. Despite so many movies (Hunstman again)/episodes of Once as evidence to the contrary, I still think the darker, fleshed out, feminist re-tellings of fairy tales can work. Maybe this one will do it, maybe it won't. This trailer's not giving us enough information to make a guess either way, but maybe that's the point.

'Divergent' Trailer
A few days ago, they released the new trailer for Divergent, the latest dystopian YA novel adaptation.
When I heard it was getting a film version, I figured the series was worth reading. I give it major credit for going in super weird places and taking bold choices (unlike the second Hunger Games book, this series doesn't retread its past plots), but that doesn't necessarily mean the choices are successful. More importantly, the whole premise of the novel is super illogical and, though explained in the third book, never quite coalesces for me. That being said, who doesn't love a steamy teen romance, especially with the promise of some sweet shirtless random hot guy scenes? Plus, we all know Shailene Woodley can act, so she'll probably elevate the movie about its original text.

Anchorman 2: Funny on Lines, Little on Plot
Looks to be funny like the first, plus if I'm not mistaken... musical number!!!
Also - characters of color! That's neat. Hope it's good!

X-Men: Days of Future Past Trailer
Oh! I also generally like the X-Men movies, well, ok I like the first one fine, I really liked the second one, and then I thought First Class was pretty fun, too. Bryan Singer is a class act. So below is the trailer for the next in what will probably end up being a million movies, X-Men: Days of Future Past
Kind of a shit move to make Wolverine the time traveler instead of Kitty Pryde, but what can you do? People like claws, I guess?

Final 'Catching Fire' Trailer is Out!
Below is the latest/last trailer for the new Hunger Games film, Catching Fire
Spoiler alert: I was not a huge fan of the second book, because it had the exact same plot as the first. I thought it would have been far more interesting in terms of character arcs and growth (seriously, I'm alerting you to the spoils here) to have Katniss and Peeta coach other innocent victims instead of having to dive back in themselves, but what can you do? Seriously, I'm wondering what the writers did to make it more interesting. I'm sure they tried very hard, and I hope they succeeded. We will see on Nov. 22nd!

New 'Frozen' Trailer
Below is the new trailer for Disney's Frozen.
What do you think? I'm still hoping it's great (Kristen Bell deserves to be in a good movie and co-director Jennifer Lee wrote last year's delightful Wreck-It Ralph), but this trailer does not look super promising. The snowman character? Blarg. Let's hope it's just a bad trailer hiding a great - or at least good - movie.

YA Novel to Movie Alert: 'Divergent' Trailer
After I heard it was going to be a movie, I read Divergent (and its sequel) to see what the fuss was about. It's an easy read, and an interesting (if pretty unbelievable) concept. The characters are certainly fun and the plot moves along well. It's no Hunger Games, but I like Shailene Woodley and, of course, Kate Winslet, so I'll give it a shot.

Lego: The Movie is actually a movie
It's official - there's a teaser trailer starring Andy from Parks and Rec and everything.
Here's the thing, though. I thought Cloudy and 21 Jump Street were pretty darn funny, and I really love stop-motion animation. I super hate product placement and the idea that an entire movie is product placement, but of all the things to place productively, are LEGO's so bad? Am I becoming the enemy?

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs...2!
Awww, this looks like so much fun! And also so appropriate for Thanksgiving.
Is it weird that it also makes me want to read and then write an animated version of The Little Mouse, the Red, Ripe Strawberry, and the Big, Hungry Bear?
I admit I could do without the chicken-man character, but I guess he's for the kids, right? Also, I REALLY hope he's gone from wearing an actual chicken to a chicken suit (which I think is what it looks like from the trailer so phew!) because otherwise that would be intensely unsanitary.

New "Snow White and the Huntsman" Trailer AND Five-Minute Reel
Ok, I'm seriously digging this SWATH business. It looks seriously cool. Chris Hemsworth is appropriately moody and handsome. Kristen Stewart doesn't look completely terrible in it, and more importantly Charlize Theron looks like a total baddass.
Since I seem to be completely inept at figuring out X-Finity's embed system, here is the link to the /Film coverage of the new trailer and five minute reel.
Also, here's a YouTube version of the trailer, but it's not as good as the XFinity version, so watch that one!
