Brooklyn Nine-Nine is Super Fine!
I've been really digging the new comedy (from the Parks and Rec guys) Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It's very funny and has a great ensemble cast. It'll be even better when they tone down the Andy Sambergness of Andy Samberg's character, but I'm sure they'll find the balance, just like the team on New Girl did with Zooey Deschanel. So I was super excited to hear that not only was it picked up for a full season, but it (and the beloved New Girl) earned the post-Super Bowl spot!! Woo hoo!! It's a show of confidence from the network. Well deserved!

'Happy Endings' Stars Move to 'New Girl' 'The Mindy Project'
If I can't see them as Brad and Max, at least I can see them as Coach and Some-Doctor-Guy! Damon Wayans, Jr. is reprising his role (I hope permanently!) as Coach on New Girl next season, and Adam Pally is joining The Mindy Project as a new doctor in Mindy's clinic. It's not Happy Endings... sigh... but at least we'll get to watch them on two other fun shows!
Plus, wouldn't it be great to have a broadcast sitcom starring two Black actors? Sometimes I get the feeling that there's a "no two Black actors in the same room" clause on broadcast sitcoms, like they're all Superman or something. Maybe this will change that!

Wrong Directors: Game of Thrones
Jesse Benjamin's "Wrong [Casting] Directors" takes on Game of Thrones, with Zooey Deschanel, Aubrey Plaza, and Michael Cera.
Would you watch this "Game of Quirks"? I totally would. At least to see Jess and April play off of each other. That would be a blast.
When trying to come up with a cleverer title for the millennial edition of Game of Thrones, all I could come up with was "Game of Moans" which presumably already exists in porn form. Unless you think there is no porn parody of "Game of Thrones" because there's already so much sex in the actual show... Could go either way!

New Girl "Jess" Keeps Getting Better and Better!
~~~~ Spoilers for New Girl "Chicago" below!! ~~~~
After the painful handling of Marshall's father's death on HIMYM last season (a countdown!? Those are supposed to be fun and a neat Easter egg! It was neither fun nor Easter!), I was a little worried about handling Nick's dad's death. I shouldn't have been.
From the cold open with the helium to the closing Jess in Elvis drag, the episode was funny, smart, and emotionally satisfying in a way you don't often see on a super-funny sitcom! It was a surprisingly effective way to solidify Nick and Jess' bond and delve deeper into their relationship. It allowed Winston some seriously hilarious screen time in his epic eulogy fail, and Schmidt grew even nuttier than before and had (as usual) some of the best lines of the night - especially in regards to his button-festooned suit jacket.
Excellent work, New Girl! I don't want you to get all serious on me all the time (you hear that, HIMYM?) but Nick's honest reaction to his father's death was incredibly important to his character arc and all of the characters' actions and reactions combined painted an eccentric, but emotionally true, picture of what a funeral is like and how it affects us all.
I hope I can write an episode as good as this one someday!
